Questions:
In this short, but sweet TED Talks, Derek Sivers discusses the lessons of a video. He mentions the "shirtless dancing guy" type, would you say you have similar leadership qualities? Why or why not? If why not, what type would you be in the video shown? Do you agree with his way of seeing how to start a movement? Why or Why not? If you saw a shirtless guy dancing around would you join him? Explain.
Personally, it depends on what I'm doing that would make me a 'shirtless dancer'. But i would definitely be one of the first people to join in if i wasnt the one to start the movement. I agree with the way this man started the movement, it was fun and exciting and i think thats why so many people joined in. If i saw a shirtless guy dancing around, i wouldnt hesitate to join in, it would probably be one of my many yolo moments.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have the same leadership qualities because I wouldn't be the type to stand alone and dance shirtless. I would be the type to jump in with the guy dancing once he started. I do see how he explains starting a movement and I agree with it. I would join in with him.
ReplyDeleteI think I have some of the same qualities as the 'shirtless dancing guy' because I would be willing to go infront of people and make a fool of myself just to start something new. I agree with his way of starting a movement because it manages to get one person to join, and once one person joins in so do many others. If i saw the shirtless guy dancing around I would be more than willing to go join him because I know what it's like to be in his position.
ReplyDeleteNo I woulnd't say I have similar leadership qualities to the shirtless dancing guy. I wouldn't have the guts to stand up in front of people and dance. I also wouldn't have the guts to be the first person to join in. Me personally, I would be with the people at the end that join the crowd once everyone else is doing it. Yes I do agree with what he is saying about starting a movement. Although the shirtless dancing guy started the dancing in the first place, the first person that joins him will be the one to start the movement. If I saw a shirtless guy dancing I wouldn't be the first person to join just as I said before. I would definitely join but only once other people are doing it with me.
ReplyDeleteWould you say you have similar leadership qualities to the "dancing shirtless guy"? Why or why not? If why not, what type would you be in the video shown?
ReplyDeleteI would say I have similar qualities to the shirtless dancing guy, because he can get up infront of everyone and try to start a movement. I feel that if the situation arised I could do the same.
Do you agree with his way of seeing how to start a movement? Why or Why not?
I agree completly to be a leader you need to have poeple who follow you. And being the first follower of a leader is just as much a leader as the original leader themself. The first follower could just stand by and look at someone like the "shirtless dancing guy' as a nut, but no. The guy in the video stood up and joined him going agianst what everyone else was doing. Which is a major leader quality.
If you saw a shirtless guy dancing around would you join him? Explain.
I would defiantly join in with them. By me joining in with them it would show other people that its not hard to go agianst the social norm, and it may mean alot to that person that they are not alone.
i would say i do have some similar qualities to the "shirtless dancing guy", because i like to do different, random stuff and most of all start new things. i tend to start stuff that other people begin to like or follow but at the beginning they said they'd never do that. if i saw someone randomly dancing i'd be one of the first people out there to join them and get other people joining in to help get it going. At sometime for that random dancing to work someone else has to join and break the "awkward" barrier and i like to be that guy
ReplyDeleteI believe I am the type of guy to jump in and be the second guy in. I'm shy for being the first one but I am totally fine with jumping in to start a movement.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with Derek, there is no better way to describe it. If you are brave enough to stand up and do something you know you might get ridiculed or singled out for, than you will for sure start a movement, and I would support anyone who would stand out for what they believe in.
It would depend entirely on the situation for me to become a "shirtless dancer". If it was something I was passionate enough or I'm having a day full of courage and guts then I would totally be that guy. Other than that I agree with Brady, I'd be the second man in. There is no shame for standing up for what you believe in or working hard and taking risks to make a change but it all comes back to ones courage, confidence and passion. It's easier and more likely to make a fool out of yourself if its something you truly care about. Otherwise without the passion you lack the need to make that change/movement. I agree with the idea that this idea would be a good way to start a movement being that its creative, fun, and its a way for others to laugh with you and a way for you to laugh at yourself. If I saw this man I would be quick to join in the fun and encourage others to join, no one likes to look goofy alone
ReplyDeleteI would say I do not have similar leadership qualities as the shirtless dancing man. I am not the type of person that would put myself out there like the shirtless dancing man, unless it was for something that I was extremely passionate about. I Think I would be one of the people who joins in and supports rather than initiates. I agree with this way of "starting a movement" because in order to do so you must put yourself on the line and make a sacrafice. Risk equals reward; as you can see the man risks looking stupid and embarassing himself, but instead creates a movement. I would join the dancing man, but only after several others have joined aswell. Then there is less risk.
