Sara's Post

1. Do you think that pain and failure has to be part of the process to become an effective leader?
2. Do you believe that everyone has the potential to become a leader if they push themselves enough? Are there just some people who aren't meant to lead?
3. Do you think that it's fair to categorize "winners" and "losers" when choosing who to surround yourselves with in order to succeed? Will you need to change your entire life to become determined to follow your dream?
4. Have you ever had to pursue a task that nobody thought was possible for you to achieve?
5. Do you think "taking the first step" would be an easy thing to do? Would it be something that you think could be done over night or is it something

  1. 1: I do think that pain and failure have to be a part of the process to become an effective leader. You become a better version of the leader you are by failing, and trying again until you get the outcome that you want from yourself.
2: I beleive that everybody can be a leader. They just have to find the leadership qualities in themselves. They may not be a leader in the straightforward ways that you may picture a leader to be, but in their life, at that time, they could be a leader in the smallest ways, thats still a leader.
3: I think that it is fair to categorize winners and losers in your life. In order to suceed you need to let the "losers" go, because they are not there to watch you succeed, they're there to hold you back from that succession. Depending on what your dream is, sometimes theres changes that need to happen to reach that dream. But you have to decide whether or not you want that dream bad enough to make the changes necessary.
4: My mom didnt think i could carry the amount of groceries that i'd grabbed from the car, but i did.
5: I dont think that the first step is ever easy. Thats the biggest step. Its the hardest step. It takes time, and it takes thought. But in the end its worth it because you're one step closer to where you want to be.

  2. Pain and failure helps you understand how to come back and change what you did before. To be effective you have to be able to see this and use it to your advantage. If you don't allow pain, failure and disappointment to reconstruct your plans for the future you will continue to be effected by pain, failure and disappointment.

No, some people can't necessarily grow and learn to posses certain leadership qualities. Some say leaders are born or they can be molded; I do believe this is true but I don't believe everyone can be molded into a leader. Some qualites and personality traits are hard to learn to posses and apply to life. Some people are just too shy, undetermined or careless to be a leader.

"Winners" and "losers" are harsh categories to place people in. However, if you are surrounded by "winners" (people who want to succeed, they push themselves, are self-motivated, etc) you will be influeneced and thrive, surrounded by these people will enforce a postive vibe on you. But being around "losers" (people who are careless, dependant and lack reliablitity) it's hard to see how bad you truly want something when the people around you aren't motivated either.

Many times, I've had mutpile times when people have told me that I can't do something. It only makes you feel that much better when you prove them wrong.

Taking the first step can be easy or hard depending on your personality, the situation and how badly you truly want what your going after. Being able to take that first step isn't always an overnight process but it can potientally be.

  3. 1. I believe that pain and failure can be part of the process of becoming a leader but does not have to be. Leaders are made from there experiences, often bad ones but that does create a leader and should not let it difine you.

    2. Everyone has the chance to become a leader, its just a matter of how much you are willing to give and how much effort you are willing to use to become who you want to be. You won't always win but its about getting up after you lose.

    3. I believe that is completely fair, wether you want too or not you are influenced by the people around you and people know you by who you surround yourself with and if you want to succeed sometimes you need to break free of these people.

    4. Absolutely, in grade 9 just entering high school i decided to join the football team. Being fat and out of shape no one believed i would, not even my family. Now 4 years later i am a captain of the team and i love these guys and this year we just had I was one of the best in the league in my position.

    5. It depends on what this first step is, it could be as small as breaking out of your comfort zone or as big as getting your first job, the first step changes for everyone.

  4. 1. Yes I think that pain and failure has to be part of the process to become an effective leader. Pain and failure is what drives strong leaders to do all that they can to get the job done, and succeed.

    2. People that are to scared to push their own limits will not be leaders. But the people that can and that strive to be the best that they can be everyday, those are leaders. And that mentality will lead them to do great things.

    3. You have to surrond yourself with people that can make you better. You don't want to surrond yourself with people that bring you down and hold you back from your dreams. In some cases yes you have to change your life to follow your dream, but you can still be the same person just have your mind set on what you have to do and what you have to do to get there.

    4. Yes nobody thought I would be able to pull my grades up, but I did. It took hard work and me thinking that I could do it. And I did.

    5. Taking the first step would be the hardest. That is the first step in the journey to what you want to achieve. It would be hard knowing what you have to do and being the farest away from your goal.

  5. I don't think that pain and failure has to be necessary to be a leader, you only have to be able to get through pain and failure if it has been presented to you. You have to be able to role with the punches and power through to able to win, and "Live your dream."

Sometimes it is very hard to just become a leader. Its how some people are brought up, or taught in school, or there life experiences. It is easier to do whatever you want when you're a kid. Much harder to just become a leader as you get older. It's been done, but it's more likely for them to crack.

There have been leaders who come from being surrounded by "losers", like people who have come from the projects to overhaul their surroundings, their education, they way they react with people, maybe people who have to change their whole life to become a leader, they have taken the necessary steps to become a leader, or a winner. It doesn't matter who you're surrounded with, if you put your mind to becoming a leader you can do it. Again, its just harder to become one if you have started later.

I personally have never had a task that I or anyone thought it was impossible for me to do.

I believe that it could not be done just overnight, depending on how serious the situation you were faced with is. Becoming a leader is something that takes time and effort, if you try to do it "overnight", it will be hard to achieve what you want.

  6. 1. Yes, I do. It is necessary in order to build character and resolve. Through the knowledge that one gains from these experiences, you can apply the knowledge in future experiences where you face obstacles. Though the application, you can come out either victorious or you could come out as a failure, but with a sense of pride knowing that you survived it.

    2. No, I don't. There are just some people who are not meant to lead. Although they may be very intelligent, they simply lack the social skills that are necessary in order to lead a group. These social skills are crucial for interaction and your relationship with group members. This is often the case with accomplished academics. Although they posses a prestigious degree, they are often introverted and are not necessarily good around other people.

    3. Yes, I do. There are simply some individuals who will genuinely drag you down throughout your endeavours. Therefore, it is crucial that one surrounds themselves with positive influences and people who will be genuinely supportive, despite all obstacles that may lie ahead. Yes, one may may need to change their entire life. If one is to be successful, they have to ensure that they are in the proper form of environment that will allow them to have access to the necessary resources that will help them succeed in their goals.

    4. Yes, I did. My academic career has been incredibly challenging. Despite that, I maintained my resolve and pushed foreword and am now gaining top marks in U courses.

    5. No, it is not usually easy to do. At often times, it is very challenging given the radical transition that one will experience.

  7. 1. I don’t think it has to but I think it is good to experience, because then you understand both sides the bad and the good. That way when you are successful and become that figure you will hopefully remember what you had to go through and enjoy, appreciate it and remember the worst that much more.
    2. I believe there are some better than others for leaders but everyone has it in them to be one just as long as you are willing to push and go out of your way just like every other leader before you did, then you have the chance to be a leader too.
    3. I don’t think that it’s really fair I feel like winning varies depending on the person and what they have set winning to be for themselves. Every person has different goals and ways of succeeding and being a winner.
    4. There has been may tasks that I’ve done and been doubted and told just to give up but now looking back if I had have what would that have made me, where would I have been today if I started listening to what others told me what I can do with my life.
    5. I think the first steps the easiest it’s the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and after steps that are hard. Because that’s when the negativity of people and failure comes into play. On the other and I don’t think it’s something that can happen overnight you still have to work hard it just seems easier when you make it to the steps after but really doesn’t everything?
